
Outdoor Activity Programme 2009/10
Activity sessions are held all year round, weather permitting.
Bookings can be made for any day of the week and every other weekend. All sessions must be booked in advance. The minimum age for all activities is 8 years. Adult courses are also great fun and a great challenge.

Special Interest Courses: Multi-Activity
These famous five-day courses are a great way to be active this summer and learn something new. You can make new friends and have loads of fun. The courses have a mix of activities. Cost £110 (age 8-15 years). Actual activities will depend partly on weather conditions and partly on group choice. Course dates (Monday to Friday) are:-

Introductory Courses (2 hour sessions)

Archery Certificate of Competence Course: Training and AssessmentCourse for teachers, community education staff, youth leaders, sports centre staff and sports coaches with little or no experience of practical archery. The course is considered to be a transference of skills, the candidate being conversant with group communication and discipline. Successful candidates will be given certificates to teach basic archery instruction in outdoor centres, sports halls and community centres. OrienteeringCome and try some orienteering. Your aim is to get around a set course, finding all the controls en route, using a map and compass. Orienteering caters for all ages and abilities. Canoeing/KayakingAimed at beginner to intermediate level, learn basic paddling techniques or add to your repertoire of strokes. Flat water or river paddling. Weekend Course, 13th. & 14th. Gorge WalkingGorge walking takes you up a steep-sided river, walking in the path of the water, scrambling over rocks, traversing above pools and climbing up waterfalls. Gorge walking will make you laugh and get you wet! |
