Outdoor Activity Programme 2010/11

Activity sessions are held all year round, weather permitting.

Bookings can be made for any day of the week and every other weekend.   All sessions must be booked in advance.  The minimum age for all activities is 8 years.  Great idea as a gift for Mother's Day, Father's Day, someone's birthday, thank you, Christmas,  etc. - gift vouchers also available. 

Courses can be adapted to the needs of your group and corporate packages are available.

The programme over Easter 2010 has now been set - booking is essential.  The remaining programme of activities for 2010 will be completed soon and will incude:-

- water sports development courses in April, May and June, leading to National Governing Body personal performance awards, and

- a full and varied summer programme 5th. July - 13th. August for young people, to get engaged in outdoor activities during week-long multi-activity programme.

Leaflets detailing the full outdoor pursuits programme and adult courses should be available by Easter 2010. 

When participating on any activity course, please bring a change of clothing and, if participating on a day course, please bring a packed lunch with you.

Special Interest Courses: Multi-Activity

These courses are a great way to be active and learn something new.  You can make new friends and have loads of fun.  The courses have a mix of activities.

Four Day Course 6th. - 9th. April, 09:00-16:00

6th. Canoe, 7th. Archery, 8th. Climb, 9th. Kayak - Cost £136 (adult) and £90.80 (juvenile)

Five Day Course 12th. - 19th. April, 09:00-16:00

12th. Pioneering/Archery, 13th. Kayak or Canoe, 14th. Climb, 15th. Hillwalk, 16th. Day of choices - Cost £170 (adult) and £113.50 (juvenile)

Archery

Archery Certificate of Competence Course: Training and Assessment

Course for teachers, community education staff, youth leaders, sports centre staff and sports coaches with little or no experience of practical archery.   The course is considered to be a transference of skills, the candidate being conversant with group communication and discipline.  Successful candidates will be given certificates to teach basic archery instruction in outdoor centres, sports halls and community centres.  The certificate gained is recognised throughout the country.  Adults only (16+ years).  Contact for further information.

 

Rock Climbing

Session dates/times - 6th. April 09:30-12noon, 7th. April 09:30-12noon, 9th. April 09:30-12noon, 13th. April 09:30-12noon,

                   16th. April 09:30-12noon

Cost £21.25 (adult) and £14.20 (juvenile) per session.


Orienteering

Your aim is to get around a set course, finding all the controls en route, using a map and compass. Orienteering caters for all ages and abilities.

Come and have a go at orienteering, a great activity that will also keep you fit.

Session dates/times - 14th. April 13:00-15:30

Cost £21.25 (adult) and £14.20 (juvenile) per session.


Canoeing/Kayaking

Aimed at beginner to intermediate level, learn basic paddling techniques or add to your repertoire of strokes.  Flat water or river paddling.

Session dates/times - Kayak - 7th. April 13:00-15:30, 12th. April 13:00-15:30, 15th. April 09:30-12noon

Session dates/times - Canoe - 8th. April 13:00-15:30, 14th. April 09:30-12noon

Cost £21.25 (adult) and £14.20 (juvenile) per session.

 

Alternatively take the first strokes towards a kayaking qualification by signing-up for a 1star and/or 2star training and assessment course on flat water or river paddling.  Contact for further information.

Pioneering

Session dates/times - 6th. April 13:00-15:30, 15th. April 13:00-15:30

Hill Walking

Enjoy a healthy walk outdoors.

 

Gorge Walking

Gorge walking takes you up a steep-sided river, walking in the path of the water, scrambling over rocks, traversing above pools and climbing up waterfalls.  Gorge walking will make you laugh and get you wet!
