Regulations of the Fishery

  1. Anglers must adhere strictly to the boat number(s) allocated. 
  2. Landing upon the island is strictly forbidden.
  3. Fly-fishing only is permitted.  Spinning reels, flicker spoon, floats, plastic tailed lures, trolling, bank fishing and the use of bait is strictly prohibited.
  4. Anglers fishing "Catch & release" must adhere to displayed regulations.
  5. Permit holders must not exceed their allocated number of anglers in the boat and fishing limits for their permit option.
  6. When/if the permit limit has been achieved, anglers must stop fishing.
  7. No fish under 12" may be taken, small fish must be returned carefully. 
  8. Fishery staff are authorised to inspect tackle and catches at random.  Any angler who has bait, pellets, pastes or spinning tackle in their possession will be deemed to have been fishing illegally and the boat catch will be confiscated.
  9. Random tackle checks are carried out.
  10. Fishery staff are authorised to order away from the loch anyone who has contravened any of the above regulations.
  11. In the interests of safety, anglers should wear lifejackets.  Lifejackets and buoyancy aids are available from fishery staff.  Sunglasses are advised in strong sunlight conditions.
  12. Failure to comply with any of the above may result in the loss of future permits.

Catch & Release Regulations

  1. Anglers on the "catch & release" permit must come ashore and leave their catch with fishery staff before they can commence their "catch 7 release" (fridges for catch are available in the fishing lodge).
  2. Barbless or de-barbed hooks only.
  3. Strictly no boobies or buoyant lures.
  4. No netting of fish to be released.
  5. All fish to be released in the water at side of boat.
  6. Fish being released should not be handled.
  7.  Once allocated "catch & release" limit has been met, the angler must stop fishing.
  8. Minimum breaking strain of 6lb nylon.
  9. No "catch & release" during winter months (December to February inclusive).
  10. Failure to comply with any of the above may result in the loss of future permits.
