Fishery NewsBeecraigs Fishery Monthly Report, Prospects and Records September 2007 |
|
| Yet again September has been an excellent month
for fly-fishing on Beecraigs Loch. Light westerly winds coupled with overcast skies
and falling water temperatures have given the fishermen excellent conditions leading to
many quality baskets or trout being weighed in. Best tactics employed have been flaoting and intermediate lines fished in the top few feet of the water. As water temperatures fell, the fish spread evenly across the loch and were very active. Last month was very successful for those fishermen who enjoy using lures with Ace of Spades, Yellow Dancer, Cats Whisker, Damsels, Orange Fritz and Pink Fritz, whilst nymph fishers have used Diawl Bach, Buzzers, Bloodworms and Pheasant tailed nymphs to great effect. Small wets and dries should not be disregarded as both have featured well in the catch returns during the last month. Best Fish
Fish of the MonthFish of the month goes to Mr Alan Wilson from Edinburgh for a splendid triploid rainbow taken on a Yellow Dancer. Mr Wilson wins for himself a Scierra I.C.3 fly rod to the value of £100, courtesy of our sponsors for September, Almond Cleaning Services, Livingston. Fishery Records:
