Beecraigs Fishery Monthly Report, Prospects and Records
January 2009
Beecraigs Loch has been greatly affected by the cold weather conditions of January. The first 10 days of the month saw the loch being completely iced over. Angling got underway again on the 11th. and some excellent fish were taken at this time. Cold water temperatures have dictated tactics and anglers have had to fish their offerings deep and slow. By far the best patterns have been Boobies in its many forms, Dancer, Black & Green Fritz and Blobs. With the colder weather the fish have formed tighter shoals and it was a case of half-an-hour in one spot then up-anchor and try somewhere else.Best Fish
- Once gain Beecraigs has produced some real whoppers with best fish of 17lbs. 12oz. caught by Dunblane angler John McLaren on a Mosaic Booby.

- Gordon Burt from Rosyth took a fine silver rainbow of 14lbs. 2oz. on the Dancer.
- Later in the month, Bo'ness anglers Arthur McKee and Alan Cunningham had a good days sport and came into the lodge with 6 good fish for 16lbs. all on the Booby.
