Beecraigs Fishery Monthly Report, Prospects and Records

Fishing Final: 3rd. November 2007

Saturday 3rd. November saw the annual "fish off" competition for the Beecraigs challenge trophy and various tackle vouchers. The 8 monthly winners of the heaviest fish caught between March and October competed for the trophy on the day. The weather on the day was quite cold and this made the fish feed a little deeper. It wasn't too long though before rods could be seen bending into hard fighting rainbow trout.

Winner this year was Jim Pringle from Livingston, West Lothian who weighed-in 21 rainbows for 49lbs. Jim took fish consistently all day on a Cats Whisker Booby along the Road Side shore and getting through three of his Boobies in the process. He received the Beecraigs Challenge Trophy and a tackle voucher for £75 for his efforts.
Runner-up was regular Bob Rintoul from Bathgate who took 15 rainbows for 30lbs. all of which were taken infront of Dagger Island on the Booby. Bob received a tackle voucher for £50.
In 3rd. spot was Ian Flockhart from Cowdenbeath who weighed in 11 fish for 26lbs. 8ozs. Ian received a tackle voucher for £25.
The remaining 5 finalists each received a tackle voucher for £10.
The biggest fish caught by the finalists was a bow of 5lbs. 8oz. taken by Ian Flockhart.

All of the members of the angling press had an enjoyable days fishing with many caught. Indeed the biggest fish of the day was caught by Nigel Muckle who took a fine triploid rainbow weighing 7lbs. 4oz.

In total the anglers and members of the angling press recorded 106 fish for a total weight of 240lbs. 6oz. with an average fish weight of 2lbs. 6oz.

Mr Ian Muckle of "Trout Fisherman" presented the trophy and prizes at the end of the day. All prizes were kindly donated by our sponsor for the Fishing Final Lochside Tackle and Sport of Linlithgow, Armadale and Falkirk.
