Beecraigs Fishery Monthly Report, Prospects and Records
August 2009
August on Beecraigs Loch saw monsoon-like weather conditions with torrential rainfall. The loch levels have been up and down like a yo-yo and at times quite coloured. However, despite the rain, the fishing has been excellent and anglers have enjoyed some great top of the water sport.
Fish have continued to be taken on the buzzer during the day and the top nymphs have been the Diawl Bach, Hare's Ear nymph and various buzzers. The most successful method has been the washing line technique with a Black Booby on the point. Lure fishers have taken many fish with Golden Damsels and Black & Green based lures being the best in the first two feet of water.
Fish of the Month:
Many basket limits have been recorded and fish of the month goes to R. Rintoul for his 9lbs. 7oz. triploid taken on a "Bob's Pink Panther Cat", a slimline faded pink cat tied with a pink marabou wing and tail with a body of the same pink marabou ribbed with fine silver wire. Mr. Rintoul wins for himself a £50 tackle voucher, courtesy of our sponsors for August "Almond Cleaning Services of Livingston".
Fishery Records:
- brown trout at 8lbs. 5ozs.
- Rainbow at 27lbs. 8ozs.
- 12 Fish Limit at 108lbs. 14ozs.
